BLU-U Acne Treatment  

This acne treatment involves the use of a blue wavelength of light that destroys active acne caused by P. acnes bacteria. The light specifically targets these abnormal cells. When sitting in front of the light patients feels no pain or discomfort. Packages of 10-20 treatments are typically required for maximum benefit.

Photodynamic Therapy

To enhance BLU-U treatment and make it long lasting, one can combine it with Levulan or aminolevulonic acid (ALA). This naturally occurring acid is applied to the face prior to the BLU-U treatment and is allowed to penetrate for a few hours. After the incubation period the patient sits in front of the light for 10-20 minutes. This treatment is ideal for people patients suffering from chronic acne.
