Medical Ozone, Bio-Oxidative & UV Therapies

What is Medical Ozone Therapy?

Ozone therapy is a medical treatment whereby ozone is introduced into the human body. Ozone is O3, whereas the oxygen we breathe is O2. Ozone has been used successfully around the world for over 80 years to treat a broad range of different illnesses.  Despite this, the FDA currently lists ozone therapy as investigational/experimental.

History behind Ozone Therapy

The first use of ozone intravenously was done in the 1940s and its development is credited to Dr. H. Wolff. It is the most common ozone treatment today and is used by thousands of physicians worldwide in countries like Germany, Poland, Egypt, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, England, Canada, Russia, India, Eastern Europe, Cuba and Mexico.

How does Medical Ozone Therapy work?

Research shows that Ozone has highly pronounced anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. Ozone’s ability to stimulate circulation is beneficial in the treatment of various circulatory disorders and makes it valuable in revitalizing organic functions. Ozone is a potent regulator of the immune system. This unique property makes the therapy effective in both over and under active immune systems. Ozone also activates the body’s own antioxidant systems and free radical scavengers by stimulating glutathione and superoxide dismutase and is thus useful in diseases that involve chronic inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction.

Summary of Ozone therapy benefits:

  1. Increases oxygen delivery to cells, tissues, and organs
  2. Increases blood circulation throughout the body
  3. Detoxification
  4. Activates and modulates the immune system
  5. Accelerates wound healing

Indications for treatment:

  1. Circulatory disorders (atherosclerosis, peripheral artery disease (PAD), neuropathy)
  2. Autoimmune disease (Lupus, RA, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)
  3. Viral disease (Herpes, Hepatitis, EBV, CMV, Influenza, etc.)
  4. Treatment of poorly healing wounds and inflammatory processes
  5. Complementary therapy to cancer
  6. General fatigue, revitalization and anti-aging
  7. Diseases of the eye
  8. Intestinal disease (Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative colitis)
  9. Inflammatory and degenerative Joints
  10. Detoxification

Why is Medical Ozone Therapy not more widely used?

There is very little incentive for studying ozone therapy due to the inability to patent the process. Any physician with knowledge and proper training can obtain an oxygen tank and ozone generator to perform the treatments. Also, because of ozone’s ability to potentially treat such a vast range of illnesses the economic impact could be huge if it could replace more expensive therapies with minimal to no side-effects.

Routes of Administration

Major Autohemotherapy

Major autohemotherapy (treatment of the patient’s blood outside the body before reinfusion) is useful for revitalization, in the treatment of circulatory disorders, virus-producing diseases, general immunoactivation and in geriatrics (age-related conditions).
By this method, 100 to 150 ml of the patient’s own blood is withdrawn in a sterile setting and enriched externally with a specific amount of ozone. The ozone reacts completely – i.e. at a rate of 100 % – with specific substances making up the red and white blood cells and activates their vital activities = metabolism. It is this activated blood (not ozone or oxygen!) that is immediately reintroduced into the patient’s system using a normal drip unit.

Minor Autohemotherapy

Minor autohemotherapy is an intramuscular injection of the patient’s blood with ozone for nonspecific immunoactivation and revitalization. This method can be used for allergies or in a general way to improve the body’s inherent resistance to physical and mental stress.

Colon insufflation

Ozone application via the rectal route is not as inconvenient or unpleasant as it sounds (medically, it is called insufflation). In fact, the patient feels absolutely nothing, as the ozone is directly absorbed by the sensitive intestinal membranes; in addition, the specially designed disposable tube is lubricated, which makes the method hygienic and practical, as a patient can apply it himself/herself. This method is primarily indicated for inflammatory conditions of the intestinal tract, but is finding increasing use for general revitalization processes.

Prolozone

Ozone is carefully injected for the treatment of inflamed and painful joints (arthritis, recurrent arthrosis, general pathological stiffness) to help heal damaged tissue.

Topical Application

External treatment is primarily achieved through a closed system using O3 gas fed into plastic “boots” (for the legs and feet) fitting various parts of the body. This method is highly effective in treating ulcers, sores, open wounds, postoperative lesions, shingles (herpes) and infected areas etc. Other topical methods of application are ozonated water and ozonated olive oil (for skin eruptions such as eczemas, acne, and conditions involving molds, funguses and lichens etc.).

  • Naturopathic & Aesthetic Medicine, Scottsdale, Arizona

At Rejuvena Health & Aesthetics, we focus on the whole body: not just your looks or your health, but the entire package. Your appearance is a direct reflection of what’s going on beneath the surface, and the healthier you are, the better you’ll look. While some believe that a health issue requires only a visit to a physician and an aesthetic treatment can only be booked at a med spa, Rejuvena believes that total body wellness encompasses both the inside and the outside, thus our revolutionary integrative approach includes all aspects of both naturopathic and aesthetic medicine. Using the latest regenerative medicine techniques to resolve pain, enhance tissue and wrinkle repair, customized diet plans, organic whole food based supplements and detoxification therapies we strive to make you look and feel the best that you can.

We begin by addressing key issues that can take a toll on your overall health (and in turn, your looks!) such as liver dysfunction, adrenal fatigue, hormonal imbalances, toxic foods, weakened ligaments or tendons, and impaired body detoxification capabilities. These problems are diagnosed and solved at their root, rather than masked with medication, so you will experience both immediate relief and long-term wellness.

At the same time, Rejuvena addresses the outer appearance, using state-of-the-art technology and natural, high-quality products to reduce cellulite, smooth, tone and tighten skin, remove unsightly veins, blemishes, and discolorations, eliminate unwanted hair, and much more. We maximize the effects of these methods by supplementing them from the inside – for example, providing a nourishing infusion of proven collagen-building Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid in conjunction with a skin-tightening laser treatment. By tackling problems from the inside and out, we can ensure the best possible result – and, most importantly, you’ll feel as rejuvenated as you look.

Rejuvena Health & Aesthetics improves the total body for lasting results that our patients can see and feel. Come experience the difference that sets us apart.
